Talking about the “Things That Matter Most” on May 4, 2018

4:00 – Kresta Comments: Korea

4:20 – “Grain that is not Spread Rots” – the Anniversary of the Sisters of Mary

In the year 1217, St Dominic wrote that “Grain that is not spread rots.” With these words, he sent forth the earliest members of his order, to preach and teach in a world desperately in need of Truth. Nearly 800 years later, the Dominican Sisters of Mary are celebrating their own 20th anniversary. Sr Joseph Andrew joins us.

4:40 – Bringing God’s Design to Life in Churches

What is the role of beauty in drawing us to God? How important is it to have excellence in how church buildings are built and designed? Dan Rigali’s family has a proud tradition of designing churches to be beautiful and holy places. He joins us.

5:00 – Living the Beatitudes in Everyday Life

We were made for happiness, and we can achieve it by living the beatitudes. We’ll talk with Fr. Jeff Kirby about how we can do this, and also look at the “anti-beatitudes” that lead to unhappiness.

5:20 – Freedom and the Good

The meaning and nature of freedom has always been a hot topic. For decades, we’ve been telling kids that they’re “free to be whatever they want to be.” But the understanding of freedom has changed to something far from its original intention. Many people today understand freedom to mean “the ability to do whatever I want to do, so long as it harms nobody.” That’s a far cry from how someone like GK Chesterton understood freedom. We’ll talk again with David Schindler.
