The reality of the western world in which we live is often at stark contrast to the Christian worldview. This is obvious in many areas of culture: marriage, life, education, the role of government, etc.
In his new book, Beheading Hydra: A Radical Plan for Christians in an Atheistic Age, Fr. Dwight Longenecker discusses some of these problems and picks apart sixteen “-isms” which atheism presents to the world today. Some of those “-isms” include scientism, materialism, utilitarianism, and sentimental humanitarianism.
Each of these is corrupting politics and the power structures of the world. In order to fight back, however, adequate knowledge is required of the enemy and Fr. Dwight seeks to provide that in his new book.
He joined Al Kresta on Kresta in the Afternoon to discuss these “-isms” and how the we can fight against them.
