          • Little Flowers Girls' Club - Little Flowers Girls Club® is a Catholic program for girls ages 5 and up based on learning Catholic virtues through the lives of Catholic saints, Scripture and the Catechism of the Catholic Church. Developed by a Catholic mom of eleven, Rachel Watkins. The Club strives to bring the Catholic faith alive and inspire the girls to become authentic Catholic women. Nine virtues are included in each of three different Wreaths or years of study. While the first wreath is loosely based on Fr. Lasance’s Catholic Girls Guide, all the wreaths provide an introduction to virtues that make them fun as well as easy to understand and put into practice. A fourth year, studying the fruits of the Spirit is also available. The format of the Clubs is flexible, with groups meeting monthly, bi-monthly or weekly. Badges for the virtues are earned by studying the saint associated with the virtue, memorizing relevant scripture verses and studying the Catechism. The program is flexible enough to use with a variety of age groups. Little Flowers Girls Club® has also been successfully implemented in the family. Sashes, vests, skirts, bandanas, t-shirts and other items are extras that add to the experience, but are not necessary to running a successful Club. The Leader's Guide for each Wreath offers suggestions for running meetings, planning crafts and activities, talks on virtues and other relevant information. The Member's Guide includes the activities, saints' biographies, pictures of the saints, and prayers for each girl. Each of the girls in the Club should purchase their own Member's Guide. Other items that leaders find useful - but are not necessary to running a successful club - are the Memory Verse CD/Cassettes, the Tea and Luncheon Manual, the Virtue Badges, and the Craft Companion and Merit Certificates. Leaders should have fun with the program and use the flexibility to choose the items that are right for your group's needs. God bless you in your work for His work! • Kim Cameron-Smith

Kim Cameron-Smith lives in Northern California with her husband Philip and their 4 children. She has homeschooled her children since 2003. Kim and Philip embrace the principles of attachment-based parenting as they seek to live a family-centered lifestyle. Kim believes that Catholic theology perfects what is already just and beautiful in secular insights about how children thrive. Kim is a licensed attorney and a member of the California State Bar. She holds a B.A. in English from Wellesley College, an M.Phil. in Medieval Literature from Oxford University, an M.T.S. (theology) from Harvard University, and a J.D. from U.C. Berkeley. Kim is a catechist in her parish and a leader of her local Little Flowers Girls Club. She is a regular contributor on the topic of “conscious Catholic parenting” on Gregory and Lisa Popcak’s radio program More2Life, which is produced by Ave Maria Radio. She writes a family homeschooling blog at www.firstheralds.com. You may contact Kim at kim@catholicap.com.

          • intentional catholic parenting - The domestic church is called to build a community of love which fosters true communion and connection. When we choose to create this kind of communion and connection in our families, we discover that joy, hope, and Christian perfection grow – not only in each of the family members individually but in the family as a mystical person. Others around us can’t help but look at our families and sigh, “Look at those Christians, how they love.” This is why John Paul II saw the family as crucial to the future of humanity: without strong, loving families, society will drift and suffer.
