Co-founder, with his wife Rose Marie, of St Gregory Centers, Inc., which has been called, “The most advanced substance abuse program in America”. Since 1990 Mr. Vasquez has been the founder of industry changing health care companies in the United States.
In 1990, Mr. Vasquez founded one of the first fully implemented electronic medical record systems in America. After taking the company public on NASDAQ, the company was later sold to 3M Healthcare in 1996.
In 1997, Mr. Vasquez founded the first real-time processing capability for hospitals directly into Medicare, which eliminated the chance for abuse. The Mayo Foundation purchased a portion of the company in 1999 and later 1,500+ hospitals and clinics implemented the software. By 2004, when he retired, the company processed an estimated $39 billion in Medicare revenue for most of the leading hospitals in America. The company was sold to a division of United Healthcare in 2009.
In 1994 Entrepreneur Magazine named Mr. Vasquez an “American Success Story”; in 1995 US Chamber of Commerce named Mr. Vasquez the Blue Chip Enterprise Recipient; in 2000 he was named Ernst & Young “Entrepreneur of the Year” and inducted into the Entrepreneur of the Year “Hall of Fame”; again in 2012 he was a finalist for Ernst & Young Entrepreneur of the Year for his work at St Gregory Centers.
Mr. Vasquez is a 4th degree Knight of Columbus; Member of the Knights of the Holy Sepulchre; Member of the Des Moines chapter of Legatus; Founding board member of St Gabriel Communications, Des Moines Catholic Radio; Serves on finance council and is Trustee of St Anthony Parish.
Married for 32 years to Rose Marie with 3 adult sons. He received his Executive Health Management Certificate, Harvard School of Public Health and B.S. from Drake University.
