An Ideal Husband- HSC Thespian Society Performance

An Ideal Husband Performed by The HSC Thespians, April 10th, 11th, and 12th
Please join us for an evening of clever, witty theater. The HSC Thespian Society will be performing Oscar Wilde’s play, An Ideal Husband. It is a dramatic comedy based in 18th century London, centering on a hidden political scandal dating back many years. Watch the plot unfold: Who is Mrs. Cheveley? Who will Mabel Chiltern marry? And what is the truth of Sir Robert’s jaded past? Performances are April 10th and 11th at 7:00 pm, and April 12th at 2:00 pm at Whitmore Lake High School. Ave Maria University Ann Arbor Founders Club First Friday Breakfast Series

All are invited to the Ave Maria University Ann Arbor Founders Club’s First Friday Breakfast Series on Friday, April 4th at Domino’s Farms, 24 Frank Lloyd Wright Dr. in Ann Arbor. “Teachable Moments: Using Everyday Encounters with Media and Culture to Instill Conscience, Character, and Faith” will be presented by Marybeth Hicks, a popular Catholic commentator on cultural issues. Mass will be in the Chapel (Lobby C) at 7:00 a.m. followed by a continental breakfast and the presentation in the EBA Café (Lobby H-Level One). The cost is $5. Guest speaker Capuchin Friar, Jerry Kessel, from Capuchin Retreat will lead us in a day of reflection and prayer. Theology on Tap, Southeastern Michigan: How to Be a Witness in the Marketplace with Paco Gavrilides

Francisco “Paco”* joins us this month to talk about how to be a witness of the faith to those in your work place.

Theology on Tap is a great time for young adults in their 20’s and 30’s to come together for fellowship, food and drinks, and hear a compelling talk from a dynamic speaker on the topics that impact us daily. Theology On Tap – Southeastern Michigan meets on the last Thursday of each month. Come any time after 6:30 to order some food and spend time with friends. The talk begins at 7:30 and is followed by a live Q & A.

*Francisco (Paco) Gavrilides is currently serving as Homiletics Instructor at Sacred Heart Major Seminary, Detroit, MI. He received his STB at the Archdiocesan Seminary in Monterrey, Mexico. He is completing his Licentiate Degree in the New Evangelization at Sacred Heart.

Paco has been active in the apostolic and evangelistic ministry for many years. As a convert to the Catholic Church since 1968, Paco has dedicated his life to serving Christ in the Church with a passion to share the Gospel. He is a teacher, speaker and evangelist.

For more than twenty years he was involved in lay missionary work, helping to form small ecclesial communities throughout Latin America, Spain and the United States. For ten years he was Coordinator and Emcee for the Archdiocesan wide Catholic Men’s Conferences. He has been active in the Catholic Charismatic Renewal and evangelistic outreach to university students. His ministry to men has him serving them at the local, national and international level. He has served in the Office for Evangelization before his appointment to the Seminary.

As a frequent conference speaker, with bilingual skills in English and Spanish, he gives retreats and missions on faith and conversion, spiritual growth and prayer, and spiritual leadership. With his wife, Inez, he gives retreats and workshops for married couples. Paco and Inez have three children and reside in Ypsilanti, Michigan.

The 40 Film at Madonna University

On Saturday, March 29, 2014 at 7:00 p.m. at Madonna University’s Franciscan Center (Room S100), the documentary film 40 will be shown. The screening is open to ALL students, faculty, and community members throughout the metro Detroit area!

If you are unfamiliar with the film and want to see the trailer and learn more about the 40 film, check out: www.the40film.com

Dr. Monica Miller will also be joining us at both screenings. Dr. Miller is the Director of Citizens for a Pro-life Society, a professor at Madonna University, and the author of the book Abandoned: The Untold Story of the Abortion Wars. Dr. Miller will be selling her book at both of the showings if you would like to purchase a copy.

There will be a bake sale before & after The 40 Film hosted by the members of the Respect Life group. We will be selling the baked goods in the Franciscan Center Gathering Space for those who are interested. This will also allow people a time for fellowship prior to and following the film.

There will also be babysitting for families with children to allow parents to view The 40 Film. The Respect Life leaders will be part of this effort to assure the safety of all children. They will be providing games and other activities for the children.
