Sacred Scripture gives witness to the importance of law in the life of God’s people. In the Old Testament the law was very important to people. Observance of law was closely associated with the spirituality of the Hebrew people. Their spirituality viewed the law as a great gift from God, based on His love. Jesus came to fulfill the law.
Canon Law, the oldest continuously functioning legal system in the western world is the internal system of the Catholic Church. The canons of the canon law exist in service of the life of God’s people. The more the Catholics understand their canonical rights and duties, the more effectively they can partake in the Church’s mission.
Dr. Edward Peters, one of the most widely-known lay canon lawyers in North America, joined the graduate faculty at Sacred Heart Major Seminary in 2005 with his appointment to the Edmund Cardinal Szoka Chair. In 2010, he was appointed a Referendary of the Apostolic Signatura by Pope Benedict XVI.
Dr. Peters will address questions which are frequently asked, such as:
“Ask the Canon Lawyer”
*How do I get my Marriage which was not in a Church “blessed” by the Church?
*Why does my non-Catholic fiancé need a Catholic annulment?
*Who qualifies as a sponsor at baptism?
*Can a parent become a Confirmation sponsor?
*What is the difference between a Church annulment and civil divorce?
*What are the proper rubrics for the Mass?
Bring your own questions!

Moses is the gripping tale of God’s people being led from 400 years of captivity in Egypt to freedom on their way to the land promised to Abraham. In this moving depiction, the pages of the Bible will burst to life as you watch the Hebrews struggle to survive under the tyranny of the Pharaoh. Hope will emerge with Moses’ humble birth as a Hebrew boy providentially rescued from the river by an Egyptian princess. His education and upbringing as an Egyptian son in the house of Pharaoh himself makes him learned and wise in their ways, while being taught in his youngest years by his own Hebrew mother, he is thereby founded in the faith of his fathers. Brother will battle against brother as Moses and Ramses learn the truth of their relationship. Agony and suffering will transform into confident expectation and rejoicing. Bring plenty of tissues as Moses will evoke genuine emotion and enliven and inspire its audience.
Tickets are $7/person or $35/family for advance sales only. Tickets can be purchased online at www.drama4hsc.weebly.com or by email at [email protected]
