Gorzkie Zale (Bitter Lamentations)

‘Lenten (or Bitter) Lamentations’) is a devotion that developed out of Poland in the 18th century. The devotion is primarily a sung reflection and meditation on the Passion of Christ and the sorrows of His Blessed Mother. The devotion consists of a three-part cycle, subdivided into five unique parts. One part of the cycle is held on each Sunday in the period of Lent.

The devotion usually starts with the Exposition of the Blessed Sacrament, followed by the sung introductory hymn: “Pobudka do rozmyślania męki Pańskiej” (English: “A wake-up call to begin meditating Our Lord’s Passion”).

Juventutem Michigan (https://www.facebook.com/JuventutemMichigan) is a group of Catholic young adults, aged 18-35, who pursue holiness by attending the Traditional Latin Mass and by tapping into other timeless traditions of the Faith. Juventutem Michigan is an affiliate of the Fœderatio Internationalis Juventutem (FIJ), whose members work for the sanctification of youth – both at the triennial World Youth Days as well as in the local dioceses and parishes. The name ‘Juventutem’ itself is the Latin word for youth and it appears in the opening lines of the traditional Mass.

40 Days for Life Peaceful Prayer Vigil Begins!

The 40 Days for Life campaign begins on Ash Wednesday, February 18th and continues until Palm Sunday, March 29th. Please help us pray for the end of abortion! With God’s help, 40 Days for Life has helped spare 9,699 babies from abortion, helped with 107 abortion worker conversions and helped close 59 abortion centers.

There are 3 parts to each campaign. First is prayer and fasting. We ask that you pray every day for the end to abortion and if you are willing and able to fast on Ash Wednesday and the Fridays during lent, please offer up that sacrifice to the Lord in honor of the unborn. Second, is the peaceful prayer vigil. We ask that you come out to pray during the campaign at Planned Parenthood (3100 Professional Dr, Ann Arbor). We hope to have at least 2 people covering each hour from 7am-7pm. If you can come out and pray for an hour at the vigil site, please sign up at www.40daysforlife.com/annarbor. The third campaign goal is community outreach. Please help us get the word out. The more people are involved, the more babies will be saved!

For more information on the 40 Days for Life campaign and to get involved, please visit 40daysforlife.com/annarbor or contact Ann Arbor campaign director, Sandie Weathers, at [email protected] or 734-657-1936.
