Dance 4 Hope

The Phoenix Center in Ann Arbor, MI is hosting the 2nd Annual
Dance 4 HOPE Dance-a-thon for Encouraging Words Inc.

Saturday March 29th, 2-6pm

Join in the fun with 4 hours of some of the greatest swingin, hoppin, and jiving dance music with a variety of genres and dance styles!

All proceeds go to Encouraging Words to help children in severe poverty around the world receive education and care.

40 Film Screening

The Madonna University Respect Life group has purchased the license to screen the 40 Film on campus to students, faculty and the community. They will be hosting a screening of The 40 Film. If you are unfamiliar with the film and want to see the trailer and learn more about the 40 film, check out: http://www.the40film.com/.

The screening will take place at Madonna University on the following days:
Saturday, March 29th at 7pm
Sunday, March 30th at 4pm
Both screenings will be in room S100 in the Franciscan Center.

Dr. Monica Miller will also be joining us at both screenings. Dr. Miller is the Director of Citizens for a Pro-life Society, a professor at Madonna University, and the author of the book Abandoned: The Untold Story of the Abortion Wars. Dr. Miller will be selling her book at both of the showings.

There will be a bake sale before and after The 40 Film hosted by the members of the Respect Life group. We will be selling the baked goods in the Franciscan Center Gathering Space for those who are interested. This will also allow people a time for fellowship prior.

There will also be babysitting for families with children to allow parents to view The 40 Film. The Respect Life leaders will be part of this effort to assure the safety of all children. They will be providing games and other activities for the children.

DOV Leaven Conference-Hunger & Homelessness

The 2014 Leaven Conference is fast approaching! Come and hear what the Diocese of Venice is doing to help the hungry and homeless throughout the Diocese, and what you can do to help! The Keynote address on the principles of Catholic Social Teaching on how to combat these issues will be given by Dr. Jonathan Reyes, Executive Director of the USCCB Department of Justice, Peace and Human Development. Dr. Reyes served for a time as Executive Director of Catholic Charities, Denver and prior to that was the founding president of the Augustine Institute. Workshops will be provided by representatives of various organizations that serve the hungry and homeless in Southwest Florida. A special panel will present the surprising truth about who the homeless are in our area. At the conclusion of the conference, Bishop Frank J. Dewane will celebrate the Sunday Vigil Mass.

St Katharine “Swing into Spring” Luncheon and Fashion Show

“Swing into Spring”, St. Katharine Drexel CCW’s Annual Luncheon and Fashion Show will be held on March 29th at the Italian American Club, 4725 Vincennes Blvd, Cape Coral starting at 12:00. Buffet luncheon, entertainment and plenty of prizes included with a Special Raffle of Top Prizes and Fabulous Bag Raffles. The Fashion Show will feature unique fashions by Razzle Dazzle Boutique. Event tickets are $20 per person, with round tables of eight. Raffle Tickets are on sale for a donation of $5 for 2 tickets and $10 for 6 tickets. The drawing for the winners of the Raffle tickets to win one of four top prizes will be held at the event on Saturday, March 29th @ 2:30 pm and the winner does not have to be present. (No contribution is necessary to enter but we depend on your help). Admission tickets and ticket books for Top Prizes will be available for purchase by contacting either Dot Kay 574-1624 or Thelma DeLorenzo 458-0834 with requests.
All women of the parish and community are encouraged to join in the fun and support fundraising efforts for CCW Scholarship Fund and Deserving Charities.

Women’s Retreat: Women in Scripture Inspiring Women Today with Dr. Mary Healy. Friday through Sunday

WHEN: March 28 to 30. Registration and social begin Friday at 6 p.m. with first session at 7:30 p.m.; concludes Sunday at 11 a.m.
WHERE: Diocesan Center For Ministry at 5802 Weiss St., Saginaw
The women of the Bible have much in common with our own trials, burdens and joys, and with our call to steadfast faith in God, even in difficult times. This retreat will explore the lives of several faith-filled women in Scripture and show how they can serve as inspiring role models for Catholic women today. In looking at their lives, we will discover what Scripture reveals about the unique dignity of women and their pivotal role in God’s plan of salvation.

Option A: Full retreat with lodging; Cost: $150 semi-private room $165 private
Option B: Full retreat – commuter; Cost: $95 (includes all meals except breakfast on Saturday and Sunday)

On Saturday, March 29, 2014 at 7:00 p.m. at Madonna University’s Franciscan Center (Room S100), the documentary film 40 will be shown. The screening is open to ALL students, faculty, and community members throughout the metro Detroit area!
