All women are invited to a breakfast sponsored by Magnificat, a ministry to Catholic women. The breakfast will be held Saturday, January 25, 9:30 AM – 12:30 PM at the Holiday Inn Airport at Gulf Coast Town Center, Fort Myers. Our speaker is Ronda Bogani Ayala. She has a story to tell of fear, anger, courage and ultimately faith and communication with her Lord that seems unbelievable. He has called her to serve Him in ways that she never could foresee and believes if He chose her, then everyone must be chosen and we only have to listen to hear His calling. Please send a $20 check, payable to Magnificat Fort Myers, to Joanne Tarantino, 3315 Bermuda Isle Circle, Unit 128, Naples, FL 34109, 239-887-0060 or Shirley Ruehl, 11451 Pembrook Run, Estero, FL 33928, 239-949-7015. Requests must be postmarked by Friday, January 17.
Grill teams from across the country will compete for the Best Steak at this event. Check-in and line up begins at 9am on January 25, 2014. At 10:30am Ave Maria town will host the “Grill Parade” down Ave Maria Blvd and steaks will be issued following the parade. Grills will be lit at 3pm. Dinner will be served at 5:00pm. Tickets are $18 each and this includes a 16 oz. Boneless Ribeye steak, baked potato, salad, roll and beverage. The day includes much more than steak, though. Festivities will include a 5K run at 8am, a grill parade at 10:30am, live entertainment from noon until 6pm, a Family Fun Fest with games and bouncy houses from noon until 6pm, and of course the full steak dinner served at 5pm. While you’re here, be sure to check out the our dynamite silent auction that will have tons of great items to bid on including 2 nights at the South Seas Island Resort, Disney passes, and even a guided turkey hunt from Collier Family Farms. The event provides lots of opportunity for fun, but it’s also for a noble cause! Every dollar raised helps pay a scholarship for a deserving student from Immokalee. Donahue Catholic Academy is a “Top 50 Catholic School” on the National Catholic School Honor Roll and it’s nationally recognized academics provide a golden opportunity for numerous talented students from underprivileged families who have no other local option for a strong college-preparatory / faith-nurturing school. Be sure to buy your tickets early – they’ve sold out quickly in past years! Tickets are now on sale and may be purchased at the Ave Maria University Bookstore at 2064 Annunciation Circle in Ave Maria, FL by calling 239-304-7032, or online at sssscookoff.com. Steak dinners are $18 per dinner before the day of the event and $20 the day of the event. “Like” the Sunshine State Steak Cook-off on Facebook and go to sssscookoff.com for more information.
