The deadline to register for the workshop is Sunday, May 11, 2014. Due to limited spaces, please include a deposit of $175 along with registration form (the remainder of the balance to be paid by the first day of class). Registration form is available online at www.saintstephen.net.
Fr. Marek Visnovsky will be offering an iconography workshop at St. Stephen Catholic Church, 18800 Huron River Drive, New Boston, MI on June 9–13, 2014 from 9:00 am to 6:00 pm. Fr. Marek has painted over 500 icons and holy shrouds, which are venerated in churches and private homes in Slovakia, the Czech Republic, Ukraine, Poland, Hungary, Germany, Italy, Australia, Canada, and the United States. Fr. Marek attended classes and started writing icons in 2000 during the completion of his studies at the seminary in Presov, Slovakia. In 2001, he studied iconography under the guidance of well-known iconographer Phil
Zimmerman of New Florence, PA. He has assisted seminarians in the art of writing icons as well as instructing icon writing classes at the Greek-Catholic Seminary in Presov, Slovakia; Lorain Community College, Lorain, OH; Assumption of St. Mary Slovenian Church, Cleveland, OH; St. Mary Byzantine Catholic Church, Marblehead, OH; St. John Byzantine Catholic Church, Solon, OH; Sacred Heart Church, Livonia, MI; Saint Meinrad Seminary and School of Theology, St. Meinrad, IN; St. Emilian’s Church Brunswick, OH; as well as a number of talks on iconography in the Cleveland area churches. Doors will be open at 9 am for prayer, talk, discussion, personal instructions, reflections and hands on demonstrations. Fr. Marek will instruct us, step by
step, using acrylics, to paint the icon of Christ the Bridegroom. The total cost is $350 (includes boards and painting material). Lunch will be provided. This class is open to beginners, as well as advanced artists.
