Improving Joyful Lives: Society’s Response to Difference and Disability

    • Description: "A new paper authored by Mark Bradford, president of the Jérôme Lejeune Foundation USA and released by the Charlotte Lozier Institute, examines societal response to individuals diagnosed with Down syndrome (Trisomy 21) and makes policy recommendations to further improve their lives. "Ninety nine percent of individuals diagnosed with Down syndrome report being happy with their lives. Studies also show that their joy has a ripple effect in their families and communities. The impact of these unique men and women has recently been spotlighted in the media – everywhere from the King’s ice rink in Los Angeles to the Reds’ on-deck circle in Cincinnati,” said Chuck Donovan, president of the Charlotte Lozier Institute. “Tragically, the majority of babies diagnosed prenatally with Down syndrome are aborted. Mark Bradford and the Lejeune Foundation, along with other disability advocates, ardently believe that this does not have to be. With Down syndrome, as with any other difference or disability, we must respond with knowledge, understanding and compassion.” (Originally aired July 7, 2014)

        President, Charlotte Lozier Institute

Chuck has played key roles in the development of public policy regarding public financing of abortion, compassionate alternatives to abortion, the child tax credit ,marriage penalty relief, and rights of conscience.

Saints and Social Justice: A Guide to Changing the World

    • Description: "Societies live and die by their social teaching – history has shown it repeatedly. How they value human life, protect the family and rights of workers, assist the poor, and preserve and care for creation all ultimately make or break their legacy. Though the Catholic Church has consistently held social-justice guidelines, those truths have been largely distorted, misinterpreted, or forgotten. And the world today is paying a high price for that. The lives of 14 saints -- and how their example relates to modern social justice -- are examined in-depth by award-winning author, blogger and speaker, Brandon Vogt, in Saints and Social Justice: A Guide to Changing the World (Our Sunday Visitor, 2014). In keeping with the call to extend mercy and care to the poor, Vogt will donate 100 percent of the book’s royalties to Catholic Charities, USA." (Originally aired June 25, 2014)
    • Segment Guests:
      • Brandon Vogt

Brandon Vogt is an award-winning Catholic author, blogger, and speaker. He's been featured in many media venues, including National Public Radio, CBS, FoxNews, and EWTN. Islamic Terrorists On The Move In Iraq

    • Description: Many Americans have been following the recent activities of terrorist group ISIS. Within a very short time, ISIS has captured most of the major cities in Iraq and now has its sights set on Baghdad. As they rampage through Iraq, the ISIS forces are establishing sharia law and are beheading people on a mass scale. U.S. policymakers and opinion-makers have been caught off-guard by this and numerous other recent events. Kilpatrick advises those concerned about the future of our country and the world that instead of wishful thinking about Islam, people need to educate themselves about the reality of Islam. Christianity, Islam, and Atheism provides the kind of realistic knowledge necessary to ensure that what is now happening in Syria, Iraq, and Nigeria won’t happen here.
    • Segment Guests:
      • William Kilpatrick

William Kilpatrick is the author of several books, including "Psychological Seduction and Why Johnny Can't Tell Right from Wrong." His articles on Islam have appeared in Investor's Business Daily, FrontPage Magazine, Jihad Watch, Catholic World Report, Crisis, the National Catholic Register, World, and other publications. Professor Kilpatrick, who taught for many years at Boston College, lectures frequently to audiences in the US and abroad.
