    Dismas Ministry

    • Description: Dismas Ministry focuses primarily on a spiritual approach with inmates who want to understand and strengthen their relationship with God. As one of them wrote, “Prisoners need God and the love of Jesus and Mary as much or even more than the population as a whole.” Inmates who deepen their faith and grow in understanding of scripture will become less likely to offend others when they are released. Dismas Ministry also supports victims of crime by creating an awareness of their needs in the community. It does this in various ways: by providing literature about victims’ needs and resources for their care, special prayer services for victims in which they can find support from the faith community and mutual encouragement from their fellow victims. Victims can lead the way in showing us how to be there for them.

    • Description: Mass at Santa Marta - Christians? Yes, but.... --- "How many people say they are Christians but don’t accept “the way” that God wants to save us? They are the ones Pope Francis defined as “Christians, yes, but...”, incapable of understanding that salvation passes through the cross. And Jesus on the Cross — the Pontiff explained in his homily during Mass at Santa Marta on Tuesday, 24 March — is the very “core of the message of the day’s Liturgy”."

"The Theology of 'The Passion of the Christ'"

    • Description: A serious, scene by scene, in-depth theological study of the Mel Gibson film The Passion of the Christ, Dr. Miller's analysis not only focuses on the more obvious Marian, Eucharistic, and Incarnational themes, but she also discusses and explains the more difficult images and gestures of the movie. Written in a very reader-friendly style, the book also discusses the film's depiction of the Jews and Romans from a theological and cultural perspective and examines the various sources of The Passion, notably the Dolorous Passion of Our Lord Jesus Christ by Anne Catherine Emmerich. One chapter examines how the movie has changed people's lives and an Appendix compares The Passion of the Christ to other movies about the life of Jesus.
