Vocation Boom

  • Description: Vocation Boom is a team of passionate advocates dedicated to supporting the priesthood as a life’s vocation and mission. They seek to develop a global support community where youth and young men interested in the priesthood can find comprehensive resources, encouragement, mentors and friends to aid in the discernment process. The apostolate features an award-winning web site, a weekly radio show that’s heard around the United States on more than 200 AM and FM stations via the EWTN Global Catholic Radio Network, as well as on Sirius Satellite Radio and the Internet. Jerry and his colleagues are currently developing the next phases of their apostolate, a Vocation Boom TV show, which they hope to debut soon, and on-location broadcasts and events at seminaries and colleges around the U.S.

      Mary Beth Bonacci is an internationally known speaker. Her major addresses include 10,000 teenagers in Monterrey, Mexico, 75,000 people at World Youth Day in Denver, Colo., 22,000 people at the TWA Dome during the Pope's visit to St. Louis, plus a national seminar for single adults in Uganda, Africa. She does frequent radio and TV work, and has even made several appearances on MTV. She is the author of "We're On A Mission From God" and "Real Love," which has been translated into six languages. Mary Beth holds a bachelor's degree in organizational communication from the University of San Francisco, a master's degree in Theology of Marriage and Family from the John Paul II Institute, and an honorary Ph.D. in communications from the Franciscan University of Steubenville.

These last audiences of Pope Benedict XVI are his parting public gift to the church and are all captured here in this new book, "The Transforming Power of Faith." (Originally aired August 28, 2013)

      Founder and Editor, Ignatius Press

      Father Joseph Fessio is the Founder and Editor of Ignatius Press. He is also the publisher of the influential publications Catholic World Report and Homiletic & Pastoral Review. As a Jesuit professor he founded both the St. Ignatius Institute of the University of San Francisco and Campion College. During his academic career he has taught philosophy and theology courses at several schools. Fr. Fessio wrote his dissertation on the ecclesiology of Hans Urs von Balthasar under the direction of Pope Benedict XVI (then Professor Joseph Ratzinger).
