  • Description: Pope Francis has again caused a sensation with a lengthy interview, telling the Italian daily La Repubblica that he will work toward a Church “that is not just top-down but also horizontal.” The interview—which appeared on the same day the Pope began consulting with the Council of Cardinals about possible Vatican reforms— ranged over the Pope’s hopes for the Church, his concerns about youth unemployment and neglect of the elderly, his favorite saints, and other topics. The interview was conducted by Eugenio Scalfari, the atheist founder of the left-leaning Repubblica.

Catholic Writers Guild Retreat

  • Description: YOUR WORD IS MY DELIGHT, Catholic Writers’ Retreat, will take place Oct 13-17 at the St. Francis Retreat Center in Lansing, MI. Michelle Buckman, the key presenter, will do a series of workshops called “God is in the Details” about the importance of writing mechanics. In addition, Catholic broadcaster Al Kresta will speak on knowing and sharing Jesus, David Krajewski will discuss answering God’s call to write, and Father David Rosenberg will present a workshop on collaborative writing.

    • Ann Lewis

      Born and raised in Waterford, Michigan, Ann Margaret Lewis attended Michigan State University, where she received her Bachelor’s degree in English Literature. She began her writing career writing tie-in children’s books and short stories for DC Comics. Her first book, Murder in the Vatican: The Church Mysteries of Sherlock Holmes was the Independent Book Publisher’s Award Winner for 2010 for best religious fiction, a Catholic Writers Guild Seal of Approval recipient, and a finalist for the Catholic Arts and Letters Award for 2010.
