"The Theology of 'The Passion of the Christ'"

  • Description: A serious, scene by scene, in-depth theological study of the Mel Gibson film The Passion of the Christ, Dr. Miller's analysis not only focuses on the more obvious Marian, Eucharistic, and Incarnational themes, but she also discusses and explains the more difficult images and gestures of the movie. Written in a very reader-friendly style, the book also discusses the film's depiction of the Jews and Romans from a theological and cultural perspective and examines the various sources of The Passion, notably the Dolorous Passion of Our Lord Jesus Christ by Anne Catherine Emmerich. One chapter examines how the movie has changed people's lives and an Appendix compares The Passion of the Christ to other movies about the life of Jesus.

Iowa Supreme Court to Hear Oral Arguments over Webcam Abortions

  • Description: "In August, 2013, the Iowa Board of Medicine voted 8-2 that a physician must be physically present when administering abortion drugs, rather than simply pushing a button at a remote location to provide the drugs after only a video consultation. The new rule prohibited the practice of webcam abortions, which allowed a woman to take abortion-inducing drugs without being physically examined by a doctor before or after the procedure. Planned Parenthood appealed the Medical Board’s ruling, but in August, 2014, Polk County District Court Judge Jeffrey Farrell upheld the ban on webcam abortions." ... Same-Sex ‘Marriage’ and the End of Tolerance in America

  • Description: "The expected Supreme Court decision imposing on 50 states an entirely new understanding of marriage, and the frenzy of hatred that gay activists have stoked against Indiana for trying to shelter religious believers from crippling lawsuits should wake us to a cold and stark reality: The age of tolerance in America is vanishing before your eyes. The question is how Christians and other people of faith and good will are going to respond." ... (Originally aired April 7, 2015)

Chosen: Your Journey Toward Confirmation

  • Description: "More than half a million Catholics receive the sacrament of Confirmation each year, but some studies show that nearly half leave the faith within five years. Stefanick worked with coauthor Ron Bolster, the director of catechesis at Franciscan University of Stuebenville, and a team of youth experts in developing a comprehensive curriculum that serves as a thorough introduction to the Catholic Faith. The end result, Chosen: Your Journey Toward Confirmation, was released in the spring of 2014. The program includes a video series, a student workbook, and guides for leaders, parents, and sponsors, along with extensive online resources. In less than a year, Chosen has been adopted by thousands of parishes across the country and has received positive reviews from clergy, catechists, and most importantly, from teens."
